asIM khAne AM sa਼ikAra sadA ThAra ke
We always consume our prey only after it’s been hunted down and cooled
ਵਿਰਸੇ 'ਚ ਮਿਲੀ ਬਾਪ-ਦਾਦੇ ਤੋਂ
virase 'cha milI bApa-dAde toM
This was inherited from my father and grandfather
ਕਦੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਨਾ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਡੰਡ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ
kade mile nA dalerI DaMDa mAra ke
Bravery is never earned by just doing push-ups at the gym
ਬਾਹਲਾ ਸੱਟਾਂ ਖਾਣ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੌਕੀਨ ਨਹੀਂ
bAhalA saTTAM khANa de sa਼aukIna nahIM

bAbe nAnaka ne sukkha rakkhI A
[Baba Nanak: the first Sikh Guru] has kept us in peace and prosperity
ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਸ਼ੂਕ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਐ

Others might have kept a mistress/girlfriend
ਪਰ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਛ ਰੱਖੀ ਆ

ਲਾਵਾਂ ਲੈਣ 'ਚ ਸਦਾ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖੀਏ
lAvAM laiNa 'cha sadA yakIna rakkhIe
I believe in the sanctity of [Lavan: the four circumambulations of the Guru Granth Sahib during a Sikh wedding]

ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਸ਼ੂਕ ਰੱਖੀ ਹੋਣੀ ਐ
lokAM ne masa਼Uka rakkhI hoNI ai
Others might have kept a mistress/girlfriend
ਪਰ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਛ ਰੱਖੀ ਆ

ਬਸ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਆ ਮੱਤ ਬਈ

My thoughts and wavelength only truly align with them
ਉਂਜ ਸਭ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਈ ਦਾ ਹੱਸ ਕੇ
uMja sabha nUM bulA laI dA hassa ke
Otherwise, I greet everyone with a smile
ਭੇਦ ਦਿਲ ਵਾਲਾ ਦਈਦਾ ਏ ਘੱਟ ਬਈ
bheda dila vAlA daIdA e ghaTTa baI
But I rarely reveal the secrets of my heart to anyone
ਓ ਦੋ-ਤਿੰਨ ਯਾਰ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਨੇ
o do-tiMna yAra jiha.De kha਼Asa ne
O, there are just two or three [Yaar: close friends/brothers] who are special
ਬਸ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਆ ਮੱਤ ਬਈ
