O, when the stars appear in the vast firmament
ਕਿਨ੍ਹੇ ਚੀਤੇ ਚੀਤਨਹਾਰੇ
kinhe chIte chItanahAre
How many wonderous memories does the Creator evoke?
ਰੌਸ਼ਨੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਕੀ ਦਾ ਬੂਹਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਰਹੇ
rausa਼nIAM dI pAlakI dA bUhA kholha rahe
They are opening the doors to the palanquin of divine radiance
ਚਮਕ ਚਮਕ ਕੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੋਲ ਰਹੇ

Twinkling and shimmering, the stars chant the name of Nanak
ਚਮਕ ਚਮਕ ਕੇ ਤਾਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੋਲ ਰਹੇ
chamaka chamaka ke tAre nAnaka nAnaka bola rahe
Twinkling and shimmering, the stars chant the name of Nanak
ਇਹ ਚਾਨਣ ਦੇ ਵਣਜਾਰੇ
iha chAnaNa de vaNajAre
These are the traders of pure celestial light
ਜੋ ਵੇਖਣ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਲੱਗਦੇ
jo vekhaNa de vicha ika laggade
Who appear as one single entity when beheld

chAnaNa dI TakasAla hai jitthe vajjadA anahada nAda jIo
There is a mint of enlightenment where the [Anhad Naad: the celestial, unstruck sound of the universe] resounds

ਜਦੋਂ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਫੈਲਣ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਮਈ
jadoM hanerA phailaNa laggadA ho jAMde prakAsa਼maI
When the darkness begins to spread, they become self-luminous

I see the name of Nanak inscribed upon every single thing

ਤੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਰ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਰ ਦੇਣੇ ਜੋ ਆਵਾਗੌਣ ਵਿਚ ਬਿਖ ਲੱਗਦੇ
terI mihara ne aMmrita kara deNe jo AvAgauNa vicha bikha laggade
Your grace will turn into nectar even those who seem like poison in the cycle of [Ava-gaun: the cycle of birth and death]

ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਮੇਟਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥ ਬਾਬਾ

You are the Creator and the Destroyer; everything lies in Your hands, Father
