mana sadA nIvAM rakkhIe
We always keep our hearts humble and low
ਪਰ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਦਾਨ ਰੱਖੀਏ
para mati nAma dA dAna rakkhIe
But keep our intellect gifted with the Divine Name

He dances on the sharp blades of the [Khanda]
ਭਾਰੂ ਪਈਏ ਹਜ਼ਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ

We stand heavy and dominant over thousands

These weren't the ones who became lovers like [Ranjha: a folk hero] to eat sweet treats
ਬਾਜ਼ਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਾਹੀ ਦੇ ਸੀ ਏਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੀ ਸੂਰਮੇ

The warriors of the [Lord of the Hawks] were of a different breed
ਉੱਚੇ ਲੰਬੇ ਕੱਦ ਰੱਖੇ ਕੇਸ ਤੇ ਦਾੜ੍ਹੀ ਸੀ

They stood tall with long statures, keeping their [Kesh: unshorn hair] and beards
ਹੱਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ੇਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੀ ਪਾੜ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਜਬਾੜੇ ਸੀ

They could tear apart the jaws of lions with their bare hands

Bulletproof vests fail before the shields of the [Singhs]
ਬਾਜ਼ ਵਾਲੀ ਅੱਖ ਰੱਖਣ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚਾਲਾਂ ਤੇ

They keep a hawk-like eye on the enemy's every move
ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ ਪਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਹੀਂਓਂ ਮੁੱਕਦੇ
mAra ke mukAiA para siMgha nahIMoM mukkade
They tried to finish them, but the [Singhs] never end
ਕੱਟ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਪਰ ਸਿਰ ਨਹੀਂਓਂ ਝੁਕਦੇ
kaTTa jAMde sira para sira nahIMoM jhukade
Heads may be severed, but their heads never bow
ਅਹੀਓ ਤਾਂ ਕਮਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਕਾਲ ਹੈ!

This is the wonder of it all, it is the Timeless One!

ਸਵਾ ਲੱਖ ਸੇ ਏਕ ਲੜਾਊਂ
