Your chapter will become nothing but the past for me
ਵੇਚ ਕੇ ਅਤੀਤ ਮੈਂ ਅਮੀਰ ਬਣੂਗਾ

By selling that past, I shall become wealthy
ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਅਮੀਰੀ ਮੈਂ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਬਣੂਗਾ

Relinquishing that wealth, I shall become a [Faqir: a Sufi ascetic or mystic who renounces worldly possessions]
ਬਣ ਕੇ ਫ਼ਕੀਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਮਾਲ ਲਿਖੂੰਗਾ

Becoming a mystic, I shall write of wonders
ਮੈਂ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਅਖ਼ੀਰ ਬਣੂੰਗਾ
maiM kha਼uda kha਼Asa lapha਼ja਼ akha਼Ira baNUMgA
I myself shall become the ultimate, exquisite word
ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਰੂਹ ਬਣੂਗੀ

Through those words, your soul will take shape

ਚੋਰਾਂ ਸ਼ਾਇਰਾਂ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਤ ਜਚਦੀ
chorAM shAirAM AshikAM nUM rAta jachadI
The night is the perfect suit for thieves, poets, and lovers
ਰਾਤ ਜਚਦੀ ਆ ਪਰ ਇਹ ਨੀ ਜਚਦੇ

The night fits them, but these three don't fit together
ਜੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਦੇ ਨੀ ਬਚਦੇ
