It is a vital part of Punjab, and the [Khalsa: Sovereign Sikh] rule resides there

O, the entire imperial throne and crown of our land of Punjab is there

Ao sADe desa਼ paMjAba dA sArA takha਼to tAja utthe
O, the entire imperial throne and crown of our land of Punjab is there
ਖ਼ਾਲਸੇ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਦਾ ਉੱਥੇ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਜੀ ਪਿਆ
kha਼Alase dI pha਼auja dA utthe ikallA ikallA jI piA
Every single soul of the [Khalsa: Sovereign Sikh] army still dwells there

rAhAM de vichcha gUMjadI jiMda kaura dI chIka utthe
In those paths, the screams of [Maharani Jind Kaur: The youngest wife of Maharaja Ranjit Singh] still echo
ਖੋਹਿਆ ਜੋ ਸਾਡਾ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਦਲੀਪ ਉੱਥੇ
khohiA jo sADA mahArAjA dalIpa utthe
That place where our Maharaja Duleep Singh was snatched away
ਰਾਜ ਆਊਗਾ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਇਹੀ ਆ ਉਮੀਦ ਉੱਥੇ
rAja AUgA pha਼ira toM ihI A umIda utthe
The hope remains that our sovereignty will return there once more
ਓ ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਜਾਣੇ ਉਥਾਈਂ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਕੀ ਸਹਿਆ
o tUM kI jANe uthAIM ho ke asIM kI sahiA
O, what do you know of what we have endured over there?

The language spoken there is the same as our Punjabi
ਦੁਨੀਆ ਨੇ ਜਾਣੀ ਜੋ ਸਾਡੀ ਨਵਾਬੀ ਉੱਥੇ
dunIA ne jANI jo sADI navAbI utthe
The world recognized our royal [Nawabi: princely/aristocratic] lifestyle there
ਓਏ ਹਰੀ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਲੂਏ ਦੀ ਦਲੇਰੀ ਬੇਹਿਸਾਬ ਉੱਥੇ
oe harI siMgha nalUe dI dalerI behisAba utthe
O, the immeasurable bravery of [Hari Singh Nalwa: legendary Sikh General] remains there
ਜੰਗ ਜਿੱਤ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ੂਨ ਦਾ ਵੀ ਤਾਂ ਪਿਆ
