What is the nature of this thing called Truth?
ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ ਤੇ ਪੱਕਦੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
chullhe te pakkadI roTI sachcha hai
The bread baking upon the [Chulha: a traditional earthenware hearth/stove] is truth
ਮਿੱਟੀ ਚੋਂ ਉੱਗਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
miTTI choM uggadI pha਼sala sachcha hai
The crop springing forth from the soil is truth
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
gurU dI bANI sachcha hai

Never tear down your own hut just by seeing someone else’s mansion
ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੈ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਵੰਡ ਕੇ ਖਾਈਦਾ

The Gurus have taught us to always share what we eat before we partake
