ਇਹ ਸੱਚ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ?
iha sachcha kiho jihA huMdA?
What is this "Truth" truly like?
ਚੁੱਲ੍ਹੇ 'ਤੇ ਪੱਕਦੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
chullhe 'te pakkadI roTI sachcha hai
The bread cooking upon the [Chulha: traditional earthen hearth] is a truth
ਮਿੱਟੀ ਚੁਗਦੀ ਫ਼ਸਲ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
miTTI chugadI pha਼sala sachcha hai
The crop gathering its life from the soil is a truth
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਸੱਚ ਹੈ
gurU dI bANI sachcha hai
The [Bani: divine word/scripture] of the Guru is the ultimate truth
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਬਾਂਹ ਫੜਦੇ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਨੇ

He never lets the jewel of [Naam: the divine Name] be detached from the mind
ਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਗਹਿਣਾ ਮਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚ ਲਾਉਣ ਨਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਜੀ

ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਿਆ ਜਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਬੰਦਾ
tudhu sabhu kiChu mainUM sauMpiA jA terA baMdA
"You entrusted everything to me once I became Your servant"
ਕਿਸੇ ਦਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਵੇਖ ਕਦੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੱਚਾ ਢਾਈ ਦਾ
kise dA pakkA vekha kade nahIM kachchA DhAI dA
Never tear down your own modest home just by envying another's mansion
ਗੁਰੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਹੈ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਦਾ ਵੰਡ ਕੇ ਖਾਈ ਦਾ
gurUAM ne hai dassiA ki sadA vaMDa ke khAI dA
The Gurus have taught us to always share our blessings before we eat
ਵੰਡ ਕੇ ਖਾਈ ਦਾ

ਬੇਸਮਝਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਉਹ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ

He grants wisdom and understanding to the minds of the ignorant
ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਦਾ ਜਾਪ ਕਰਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ
satinAma hI satinAma dA jApa karAuMde ne
He makes them meditate on the chant of [Satnam: the True Name of God]
ਅੰਨ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਤਾਈਂ ਸੁਜਾਖੇ ਗੂੰਗੇ ਬੋਲਣ ਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਨੇ
aMnhiAM tAIM sujAkhe gUMge bolaNa lAuMde ne
He gives sight to the blind and makes the mute speak
