There is no banquet that can truly satisfy a man's greed

pha਼karAM de varagA pha਼kIra nahIMoM koI
There is no mystic quite like those who live in [Fakran: humble, worldly-detached saintliness]
ਰਾਮ ਦੀ ਕਮਾਈ ਦੀ ਲਕੀਰ ਨਹੀਂਓਂ ਕੋਈ
rAma dI kamAI dI lakIra nahIMoM koI
There is no boundary that can contain the wealth of righteous living
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਾ ਮਰੇ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਹੀਂਓਂ ਕੋਈ
jiha.DA kade vI nA mare sarIra nahIMoM koI
There is no physical body that shall never face its end
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮੁੱਕਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਹਿਣੋਂ ਐਸਾ ਨੀਰ ਨਹੀਂਓਂ ਕੋਈ
jiha.DA mukkadA nahIM vahiNoM aisA nIra nahIMoM koI
There is no stream that does not eventually cease its flow
ਹਾਰਡ ਵਰਕ ਅੱਗੇ ਤਕਦੀਰ ਨਾ ਖਲੋਈ
hAraDa varaka agge takadIra nA khaloI
Even destiny cannot stand defiant against the force of hard work
ਵੱਢੇਗਾ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅੱਜ ਜਾਣਾ ਬੋਈ
vaDDhegA vI uha hI jiha.DA ajja jANA boI
You shall only harvest that which you choose to sow today

I often complain to You, "Why did You not give me this or that?"
ਪਰ ਜਬ ਗ਼ੌਰ ਸੇ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਕੋ ਦੇਖਾ ਤੋ ਪਤਾ ਚਲਾ ਕਿ ਤੂਨੇ ਦਿਯਾ ਕਿਆ ਹੈ
para jaba ga਼aura se kha਼uda ko dekhA to patA chalA ki tUne diyA kiA hai
But when I looked closely at my own existence, I realized all You have truly granted
ਤੋ ਯਹੀ ਦਿਲ ਸੇ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਆਈ
to yahI dila se AvAja਼ AI
Then, this voice echoed from the depths of my heart

"With all that you were given, what have you even done with it?"
ਕਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਦੁਆ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਕਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਮ ਹੈ

For some, He is a prayer, for others, He is a respectful greeting
ਕਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਫ਼ਤਿਹ ਹੈ ਕਈਆਂ ਦੀ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਹੈ
kaIAM dI uha pha਼tiha hai kaIAM dI rAma rAma hai
For some, He is [Fateh: the Sikh greeting of victory], for others, He is [Ram Ram: a traditional Hindu salutation]
ਜਿੰਨੇ ਉਹਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਨ ਨੇ
jiMne uhade nAma ne sAre paravAna ne
In whatever name He is called, all are accepted in His court
ਤੇਰੀ ਰਜ਼ਾ ਖ਼ਾਸ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਾਲਕ ਲਈ ਆਮ ਹੈ

Your devotion is special to you, but to the Master, everyone is the same
ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਜਾਮ ਹੈ
kise dI khusa਼I nAma hai kise dI khusa਼I jAma hai
For some, happiness is a reputation; for others, it is found in the [Jaam: a cup of wine/spirits]
ਤੇਰੀ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਜੰਗ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੀ ਬਨਾਮ ਹੈ

The war you fight within is actually a war against your own self
ਪਾਪਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਪ ਇੱਥੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਸ਼ਰੇਆਮ ਹੈ
pApAM vichcha pApa itthe puMna sa਼reAma hai
While sins pile upon sins, acts of virtue are also performed openly here
ਈਰਖਾ ਨੇ ਕਰ ਦੇਣਾ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਮ ਹੈ
IrakhA ne kara deNA khusa਼I nUM harAma hai
Envy and jealousy will eventually turn your joy into something forbidden
ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਫੇਕ ਬਾਕੀ ਇਕੱਲਾ ਸੱਚ ਨਾਮ ਹੈ
sabha kujha pheka bAkI ikallA sachcha nAma hai
Everything else is an illusion; the only truth is His Name
ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਕਈ ਪੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮ ਨੇ
pa.Dhade ne sa਼Aha kaI pa.Dhade ga਼ulAma ne
The kings read of Him, and the servants study Him too
ਹਿੱਸੇ ਵਾਲੀ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਤੇ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਦਾ ਮੁਕਾਮ ਹੈ
hisse vAlI dunIA te hisse dA mukAma hai
The world is divided into shares, and every position is destined
ਦੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਤੂੰ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਜਾਗਦਾ ਇਮਾਨ ਹੈ
de diMdA tUM jiveM jAgadA imAna hai
You grant wisdom and success just as a person's conscience awakens
